The products offered by Sony Creative Software are meant to inspire artistic expression. Professionals in the film, television, video game, and recording industries, as well as students, educators, and hobbyists, all of them can use these products to create all sorts of creative content. Out of all the products offered by Sony Creative Software, I would like to focus on just one – a very useful audio editing and production tool called Sound Forge Audio Studio.

The system requirements for running Sound Forge Audio Studio are: 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 350MB of free disk space, Microsoft DirectX 9.0c or later, .NET Framework 2.0, Windows operating system (anything from XP SP3 onward).

A setup wizard will guide you through the process of installing Sound Forge Audio Studio on a PC that meets the system requirements presented above. Please note that you will have to register your version before you can start using it; registration of Sound Forge Audio Studio requires elevated privileges (admin credentials). The setup wizard will ask you to enter a serial number or run the trial version of Sound Forge Audio Studio.

By default, when you launch Sound Forge Audio Studio, you are presented with a “Show Me How” prompt. Said prompt links to lots of useful documentation: an overview of the audio editing and production tool, instructions on how to extract audio from a CD, instructions on how to publish a file to the web, and so on.

There’s a lot you can do with Sound Forge Audio Studio. And I do mean a lot! Here’s a quick look at the main things you can do with this application: record your performance; edit the recording or a locally stored audio file; lots of editing tools (balance levels, remove noise, trim sections, sync with video, apply effects, and more); create karaoke tracks; export audio to portable devices; burn your creation onto a disc; rip audio CDs; and more.

Sound Forge Audio Studio is free to use for a limited period of time. A reminder will show up when you close the application and will invite you to purchase a license for the full version.

Lots and lots of useful audio editing and production options are offered to you by Sound Forge Audio Studio.

Pros

Modern PCs will easily meet the system requirements for running Sound Forge Audio Studio. You are presented with a “Show Me How” prompt when you launch the application. You will quickly figure out the Sound Forge Audio Studio interface. From said interface you can easily access lots and lots of useful audio editing and production options.

Cons

Trial limitations: free to use for a limited period of time, nag screen.
